Art of the Start

This afternoon Antony Mayfield kindly joined us to say hello and share a taster of his innovator journey. Antony is CEO of digital strategy agency Brilliant Noise and he’s part of the FuseBox Knowledge Exchange Project Research Advisory Group. He’ll be back in again soon.

Antony mentioned Guy Kawasaki’s great read for anyone starting anything: The Art of the Start. There’s a copy of mine in the FuseBox.

Here’s a few favourite quotes:

“The wisest course of action is to take your best shot with a prototype, immediately get it to market, and iterate quickly. If you wait for ideal circumstances in which you have all the information you need (which is impossible), the market will pass you by.”

“Doing, not learning to do, is the essence of entrepreneurship.”

“Successful companies are started, and made successful, by at least two, and usually more, soulmates.”

“The purpose of a pitch is to stimulate interest, not to close a deal.”
